Swapping pmos and nmos in a CMOS inverter - VLSI Newbie

by harshit2000k@[EMAIL PROTECTED] (Harshit K) Dec 30, 2003 at 06:31 PM

Hi,

I am a newbie to VLSI Design. I have a question regarding the CMOS
inverter (sorry if this is a repeat question, I did not find an answer
in the search!) as to what happens if the pmos and nmos are swapped?
Will the inverter still work correctly and WHY? I understand that
source and drain of a MOS are interchangeable, but then again...I am
confused about inverter. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks
