I asked, they said 'no charge' for 'later releases'.. whch did not
actually answer the 'maintenance' issue.  I didnt get it in
writing...

they did pause and glance around a bit before answering... the answer
was not elaborated..very brief.  'no'.
I asked though about the new versions sure to follow this new release,
if those would be charged for,  the answer from the VAR was 'no'...
but not elaborated.. no one in the audience of about 10 people pursued
the issue.

My guess, the first few debugs to synch will be free... then
laterafter the first few waves of bugs are fixed  they will charge.
the do***ent I signed in order to get the intro price said very
plainly though that I agreed to 'maintenance, or maybe maintenance
*charges'... it did not indicate a charge amount involved... odd.
a contract is not valid unless it defines a sum or exchange.

the discount on the software is exchange on their part, but with no
amount specified for the maintenance its an odd way to do a valid
contract.in the US at least... they also had a requirment that I cease
with IV instantly.. I informed them that no one in their right mind
who wished to keep operating would cease cold turkey with their old
system to move to a new one, especially a beta version... regardless
you still need to deal with old clients and ongong work on the
appropreate platform.

they talked it over and agreed, then typed me up a new more reasonable
agreement  'that I would be phasing out IV as SE proved viable for my
operations'...I signed that.


So far they are very helpful on the phone with no mention of a
charge...they just want my purchase ID number.
