Solid Edge with Synchronous Technology is something UGS has been
working on for years. It's an evolution of direct modeling.

UGS was always a no bull**** company. The problem was they sucked at
marketing and had no clue how to set up the kind of VAR network that
SolidWorks has.

UGS strength is that they understand what manufacturers need far
better than Autodesk, SolidWorks Corp. or PTC does. Neither Autodesk
nor SolidWorks owns or produces a CAM product. UG CAM is recognized as
one of the best CAM products in the business. Siemens has got a very
powerful tool set with Solid Edge with Synchronous Technology and UG
CAM Express. It has the potential to displace many Gibbscam, Surfcam
and Mastercam seats if Siemens focuses on marketing to the segment of
the market I'm heavily involved in. (CNC manufacturing)

The reason Siemens / UGS has this technology before anyone else is
that UGS listened to their customers about the problems with
parametric-history based modeling and did something about it. UGS
invested money that other companies wouldn't and they are going to win
market share very quickly with a decent marketing approach.

All those You Tube videos show that Siemens gets it and is going to do
what it takes to get the market share they deserve to have.

SolidWorks Corp. real growth is over. SolidWorks is going to be seen
as old, obsolete technology for many applications. The same can be
said for Autodesk Inventor.

PTC has a clue. That's why they purchased CoCreate. PTC best chance at
being seen as they once were seen (a market technology leader) is for
them to create a very powerful CoCreate.
