  I'd guess not once you realize what he "thinks" he's
trying to do.
  Can you edit a chain by changing it's starting point
while *still creating the chain*?
  That "new" starting point might be miles away & unconnected.
  If I had written the chaining function(s) I'd not allow the editing
of an entity (the chain) until the user had created it, beyond
a "back one step" function & similar.
  A chain is sort of like an array entity ... and it's kind of
hard to write to both ends of an open array at the same time.
  Plus a decent chaining function needs to check that the chosen
entities actually can form a chain as it goes. Else you could select two
1" circles 10" apart ....  and it has to do that one by one in sequence
as the entities are selected *in order*.
