We are looking solid edge, but
are concerned about surfacing capabilities You should be. Does this
product have
good surfacing tools? No.

I don't do much
sheetmetal. When I do, it's really simple stuff. When it comes to
sheetmetal, I
would acknowledge that SolidEdge seems to be the preferred choice.

Have no idea why a user should not be able to have
two way associativity in SolidEdge and why a user
is limited to just one way associativity between model
and print. Seems like a limitation that needs to be
removed in SolidEdge.

I will be happy to debate anyone who
has the mistaken impression, that SolidWorks, SolidEdge or
IronCAD are superior technology wise, to Varimetrix VX Vision.
They aren't, it's not even close.

Please note that I am a SolidWorks user and loyal to SolidWorks Corp,
who deserves my loyalty. I'm just not blind and I understand how to be
objective, even though it's not always easy.

In SolidEdge you only have one way associativity between model and
drawing.
....
I often find it easier to make a change to a drawing than to a model.

Ashlar maybe late to the party with a truly first class, unified,
seamless, hybrid modeler but their new product line is going to give
companies like UG (Solid Edge), SolidWorks, Autodesk (Inventor), etc.
fits.

Mid- range CAD/CAM systems will be slowly forced to offer modelers that
are
actually enjoyable to work with and that can make handling swoopy
surface contours enjoyable. Cliffy's laughable "solution" to use
developable
surfaces would certainly apply when it comes to tedious processes.

Nobody ever claimed he had clue #1.
Why would anybody with one try to use developable surfaces for
complex swoopy surface contours (no matter how enjoyable)?
Generally one would use non-developable surfaces <VBG>.
He got it ass-backwards yet again.
He still has no clues I'd wager.
