hi
i've had a lot of computers, about 12 of them at home now - but never
an IBM. well, not since about 1985.
assuming that IBM complies with the PCI-express standard like the rest
of the industry (i would not bet my life on this assumption), i suggest
an asus video card using the nVidia 6800GT chipset & 256 MB video
memory. ($300)
alternatively, a step down to the nVidia 6600GT chipset, i think
available with 256 MB from Asus.
why asus ? experience going back about 12 years, starting with a
486DX2-66. i've looked at about 12 vendors who are selling dual video
card solutions, aka "SLI". they all use asus motherboards, even though
MSI and DFI are winning the awards from the enthusiast websites.
on the ATI chipset side ... i suggest also looking at "anand's picks"
at anandtech.com ==>
http://www.anandtech.com/
he is currently recommending --
"Sapphire Technology RADEON X800 GT, 256 MB"
as offering good value ($164).
as for how all these chipsets benchmark ...

any chance you could help me with a question about concrete used in
steel frame high-rises ?
