PaperSpace/ModelSpace is far better than either alone.
It's up to you how ot implement usage.  With DIMASSOC set to 2, dimensions
will read the MS for placement in PS.  With DIMASSOC set to 1, dims will
read the Scale of the active Layout and adjust their size accordingly for
placement in MS.

We like to keep only the drawing/model in MS and put all dims and other
such annotations in PS.  ACAD08 introduced Annotative Scaling, which
allows the user to put Dims and Annotations in MS but have them show
through different layout view****ts (and scale factors) all the same size.

One drawback to DIMASSOC 2 is that both 'picks' for any dim must be
visible on the screen.  If you pick one point and pan to the second such
that the first goes off the screen, you'll get the PS dim, not the MS dim.
 Another is that if you are chaining dims, you'll tend to pick the previous
dim and not the MS entity.  Because one of your selections was a PS entity,
you'll get a PS dim.
