I am looking for recommendations for a 3D can program. I have been using
Turbocad for a year and can say that I have suffered nothing but
frustration (Much of which I suspect is the result of the ACIS engine).
What I [am trying to] do is plans for ****p modelers.
Why am I frustrated? It's just been a constant fight against the tool. I
spend very little time doing real work and constantly fight. Add A+B+C --
error. Now try adding B+A+C error. Now try C+B+A --error. Now add C + A+ B
-- OK that one works. You try add two parts together and you get
"degenerated errors". Trying to fillet anything but the simplest edge
gives bizarre ACIS errors. Filleting edges is just a nightmare.
I've tried the ALIBRE free trial and have the same problems -- making me
suspect that ACIS is the heart of the problem. (Also found ALIBRE
difficult to learn and use and very limited 2d capabilities.)
Other TC problems I've encountered Rendering anything but the simplest
model causes crashes. The output for plans looks like fecal waste matter.
I cannot produce a decent looking plan in Turbocad. And the stupid "BEEP"
without any kid of messge.
It there anything else that I could look at? I want to be doing research
and producing output. Instead, I just spend all my time fighting with the
tool.
Some people have told me that all CAD programs are bad.
