This is an ongoing argument, do a Google search
Solidworks was the first one of the 2 in existence so Inventor copied a
lot
of SW traits.
Inventor is behind in developement. From what I've read they were as much
as
4 years behind at one point but have whittled it down to about 2.
I've used IV for about 5 years and just recently purchased SW because
there's more advertised job op****tunities with SW.
On Monster.com mech jobs are about 3 to 1 in favor of SW so that gives you
an idea of usage.
I can't really give a personal opinion yet as I've just got SW last week.
One thing for sure, the SW resellers in my area are considerably more
affordable than the Adesk ones. They talked discount enough to get me to
commit.

He's asking about Inventor. Autocad and Inventor are different products of
Autodesk.
Autocad is ususally used for 2D Civil and AEC. Inventor is pretty much
strictly 3D mechanical.
