Machine specs for good performance? - MEP 2008

by Chris Wilkinson <spammers.and@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Oct 18, 2007 at 09:37 AM

Hi there,

Currently we have fresh installs of Revit MEP 2008 on 2 machines
at work, but trying to open/use a 224MB model supplied by a client
is proving hopeless. The machine specs are...

Machine 1: P4 D 3.0GHz, 4GB RAM, ATI X300SE, dual 19", Win2K Pro

Machine 2: C2D 1.83GHz, 2GB RAM, Quadro NVS 285, dual 19", Win2K Pro

Both are working off a 100Mbit network

Neither machine apparently has enough RAM to open this model, even
the 4GB machine. Opening smaller files that come with MEP performance
seems very slow, almost unworkable on machine 2, but almost bearable
on machine 1.

Realistically, what is a safe minimum spec of machine/OS recommended
for working with 200MB+ models? Its obvious we don't meet that spec! :-)
