Just to be clear, you did edit the properties of the wall that you
are trying to adjust to allow for the layers to vary, didn't you.
(Under properties, edit, section view, zoom in to the line defining
top or bottom of wall, select, unlock (or lock) that layer. Your
base and top extension distance selection under properties should
now be activated, as you have defined them in the wall properties
dialog.
