best free/trial variation?

Which vendor's intellicad trial version is the best?
Best meaning no expiration date, least buggy, most enabled features, etc.
In 
fact, for the sake of least buggy, I prefer a version that is closest to
the 
intellicad consortium's distribution.

Is it true the source code is available for free? If so, why isn't there a

completely free version like other open source projects?
