Large Amounts of Text

Hey All 

I was wondering what the secret was to inserting a large amount of
text into the text box without it making the text box all wacky.  I'm
doing a cut & paste from a "Word" document.  It puts all the words in
place but not formatted correctly and it won't let me resize the box
when I'm done.  I'm sure there is a secret and I'd love to have it!
Any help would be great.
