Paul:

I work with several architects who use ADT and swear by it as a great
time saver. I'm not trying to say that ACad and its associated tools
don't have a place. They most definitely do. It is as you say, "And
for many, a digital drafting table is all that's necessary."

In my case this is a very true statement. For the most I try to get the
architect to do the final drawing assembly with me providing details,
notes and schedules as required. This works pretty well for residential
projects. If I am careful about my layering scheme it is relatively
easy for the architect to im****t my DWG files and then change the
BYLAYER color to match the architect's pen table. Most don't even
bother, they simply set all my stuff to one pen size (lineweight) so all
those nice beautiful details I drew come out looking pretty plain.

On commercial jobs I usually do my own drafting and supply either PDF's
or plot files for the final package. Again, I can supply DWG's, but
usually the line colors don't match the architect's pen table. I've
tried to coordinate those but it is more of a PITA than it's worth.
