There is no 'of course' about it. Get the man to do it correctly.

Your main problem will be to locate (in AutoCAD) where the gaps are. Even 
the smallest, minutest, gap will be detected and will need correcting. Can

you afford the time needed to look at every change in direction of the 
profile (assuming the gap is at a point of direction change - it might not

be!)?

On top of that, it might not be a gap between two ends, but an overlap of 
the ends.

Go back to the source and threaten him with a baseball bat!
