Klick the following:
'Create panel' arrow on the left (on the right hand of the monitor)
Geometry (ball underneath the arrow on the left)
draw out a Box on the front view
Press 'M'
Don't panic it's just the Material Editor
with the box still high lit;
find a ball with an arrow pointing to a box on the Material Editor or
take one of the big grey ball thingies and drop it on the your box in the
view screen
What! that's gone grey too!
Time to unplug the puter go down the Pub.
No wait I think we can still save this.
Still on the Material Editor look for Shader Basic Parameters,
if it is not already open, look for Blinn at the top if you can't find it
click the black triangle and choose Blinn.
At the top of the Blinn Basic Parameters look for:
Ambient, Diffuse, Specular NO don't touch them!
Now click on the little grey squire after 'Diffuse:'.
Material/Map Browser pops open.
Click on Bitmap at the top
Press OK
Yes another one pops up, this one wants to know what bit map (picture)
you would like to include in the material you are making.
If you don't have one find one in the Max program folder:
3ds Max N N=the version of Max you have.
Good one in 3ds Max N/Maps/Metal/MEDRUST3.JPG
Press 'Open'
One of the grey ball gone rusty?
But not our box in the view ****t
press F9 and it will render ok
Try one more thing, still got that Material Editor open?
Click on the little jazzy blue and white cube.
Now put the kettle on invite your friends round, you deserve it.
